Is James Gunn’s DC Universe supported by Zack Snyder? Gunn confirms

Does DCEU creator Zack Snyder support the DC Universe with The Flash’s buzz at an all-time high? James Gunn responds in the affirmative.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding the Flash Super Bowl trailer ever since it debuted. Zack Snyder, the DCEU’s chief architect, does he agree with the direction the DC Universe is going in? He does, claims James Gunn.

Fans’ opinions of the direction the DC projects are going have been divided ever since director James Gunn assumed the position of Co-CEO and creative leader of DC Studios. When it became clear that Henry Cavill wouldn’t be playing the Man of Steel again in the new DC Universe, things really heated up. The DC Extended Universe as we know it is also being built up to end with the release of The Flash.

What does however Zack Snyder think about it all? For more, keep reading.

Is James Gunn’s DC Universe supported by Zack Snyder? Gunn confirms

James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has responded to one of the numerous Twitter messages requesting that Netflix acquire the DC Extended Universe from Warner Bros. Discovery. Unsurprisingly, Gunn dashed the aspirations of fans of the Snyderverse:

Gunn did mention that they had a different conversation with Netflix in the same tweet, though. The co-CEO and principal architect of the DC Universe, Peter Safran, also mentioned that he had spoken with Zack Snyder.

It should be emphasised that Zack Snyder kept himself occupied with his own projects while the DCEU struggled to find its path. After successfully finishing his adaptation of the Justice League movie, which helped HBO Max reach record membership levels, the director concentrated on his own creations, including Army of the Dead and Army of Thieves, both of which are available on the Netflix streaming platform.

Because of the success Snyder has had on Netflix, he is preparing to release his own version of a Star Wars-like franchise with Rebel Moon. But it was precisely this success outside of the DCEU that encouraged fans of the Snyderverse to demand that Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery seek a deal so that the DCEU could continue on its platform.

These fans’ war cry on social media was the hashtag #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix, which is still popular every day. It appears, though, that Snyder himself got in touch with James Gunn to convey his support for the course the new DC Universe is headed.

It is quite improbable that the DCEU would proceed in the same manner, despite the fact that Warner Bros. has apparently licenced its past and future animated productions to Amazon Prime. According to James Gunn, the DC Universe is being rebuilt to be more unified and cohesive across all media, including animated films, live-action television shows, and video games.

Anything that uses DC Comics characters but isn’t directly related to the DC Universe will be labelled as taking place in the Elseworlds alternate realities, like Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Todd Phillips’ Joker movies.

Fans may be witnessing the final traces of the DCEU with the release of the entire The Flash teaser during Super Bowl LVII. The moments starring Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne/Batman received some of the most positive feedback on social media, but some viewers have voiced outrage that Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill’s appearances appear to have been omitted from the movie’s final cut.
