Activision Blizzard CEO calls out Sony for “disappointing actions”

A recent email to entire business was shared online by long serving CEO of one of the biggest gaming publishers in the world.

Bobby Kotick stated that the deal with Microsoft will proceed smoothly and that Microsoft has proposed suitable solutions to address any concerns from regulators. However, there was noteworthy portion in the email where Kotick expressed his disappointment as a longtime partner.

Here’s an excerpt from the staff email:

” Regulators who were initially wary of console competition are starting to gain better understanding of our industry and Microsoft’s data and evidence are having an impact. Sony has made statements suggesting that if the merger goes through, Microsoft may intentionally release inferior versions of our games on PlayStation. However, we take our commitment to delivering high quality content very seriously and loyal players would hold us accountable if we were to fall short. Sony’s real concern seems to be preventing the merger from happening, rather than any particular issue with Call of Duty. While it’s disappointing to see this behavior from partner we’ve worked with nearly thirty years, we remain committed to our long-term relationship with PlayStation and will continue to deliver exceptional games on their platform. “

Bobby Kotick will remain in his position despite the controversies once the sale goes through, according to Microsoft.

The upcoming merger is significant because it has widespread impact on many people’s lives. This impact extends beyond just Activision Blizzard, Sony and Microsoft and affects entire industry. The outcomes of their actions will have both positive and negative effects. However, it’s undeniable that some relationships may have permanently damaged due to statements made by those involved.

Although Sony has expressed its opposition to the merger, it may be required to accept its occurrence.

It would advantageous for Sony to anticipate scenario in which Call of Duty becomes exclusive game for the Xbox platform.

Bear in mind that Microsoft has achieved series of victories including gaining the approval of UK regulators and Japan Fair Trade Commission.

Bobby Kotick stated that Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will keep engaging in talks with regulators in Europe and the UK leading up to the decision dates.
