Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick criticized Sony for disappointing behavior regarding handling of cross platform play in video game industry.
As the deadline for regulatory bodies to decide on whether Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard will approved approaches, tensions are escalating. This is likely causing significant stress for Activision Blizzard’s CEO, Bobby Kotick.
A recent email to entire business was shared online by long serving CEO of one of the biggest gaming publishers in the world.
Bobby Kotick stated that the deal with Microsoft will proceed smoothly and that Microsoft has proposed suitable solutions to address any concerns from regulators. However, there was noteworthy portion in the email where Kotick expressed his disappointment as a longtime partner.

” Regulators who were initially wary of console competition are starting to gain better understanding of our industry and Microsoft’s data and evidence are having an impact. Sony has made statements suggesting that if the merger goes through, Microsoft may intentionally release inferior versions of our games on PlayStation. However, we take our commitment to delivering high quality content very seriously and loyal players would hold us accountable if we were to fall short. Sony’s real concern seems to be preventing the merger from happening, rather than any particular issue with Call of Duty. While it’s disappointing to see this behavior from partner we’ve worked with nearly thirty years, we remain committed to our long-term relationship with PlayStation and will continue to deliver exceptional games on their platform. “
